Calhoun Parr receives USTA Coach of the Year Award

Columbia, SC – Erskine Women’s Tennis Coach Calhoun Parr has been named the United States Tennis Association (USTA) South Carolina Coach of the Year. The Coach of the Year Award is given to a coach who has an outstanding record of producing top players, good students and successful teams.
In his 12th year at Erskine, Coach Parr has an overall record of 177-67 and a conference record of 111-23. The Flying Fleet have won six regular season titles (2005-2009, 2011) and seven consecutive conference tournament titles (2005-2011).
His team has also been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association the last six years as an ITA All-Academic Team. This past year five of the team’s eight players earned individual ITA All-Academic honors.
The award will be presented this Saturday, December 10th, at the USTA South Carolina Annual Meeting at the Wild Dunes Resort.
USTA South Carolina is the state branch of the USTA and coordinates the state-level efforts in both program promotion and administration for the USTA.
Founded in 1881, the USTA is the national governing body for the sport of tennis in the United States. In addition to owning the U.S. Open and selecting members of the Davis Cup, Fed Cup, Olympic and Paralympic teams, the USTA administers a variety of programs nationwide for players of all ages and ability levels.
