DUE WEST-- Roderick Perkins, a 6'4 wing from Smyrna, GA, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Erskine College next season. Perkins graduated from Campbell High School in 2011 before spending this past year prepping at Covenant Christian Academy in Marietta, GA. Perkins was a prolific scorer at both schools averaging over 18 points the last two years. In 2011 he was named to the All-Atlanta Metro 2nd Team along with being voted as one of Georgia's top dunkers. This past year at Covenant he was all-state selection scoring a career high 35 points in a contest.
"We went looking for an athletic wing and in Roderick we feel like we hit the jackpot. He fits a perfect need for us. He can score, rebound, and defend so he should compliment a very good Erskine team next year. I fully expect Roderick to make a huge impact in his freshmen campaign," stated Fleet head coach Mark Peeler.
Erskine will return 8 of its top 10 players from a season ago including All-Conference Carolinas performer Corey Sorrell. The Fleet will open their 2012-2013 campaign at Coastal Georgia on November 10th.
