Sumter, S.C. – #8 Erskine Flying Fleet (4-14) lost to the Conference Carolinas Regular Season Champions and #1 the University of Mount Olive Trojans (16-3) 5 to 0 this morning in the Quarterfinal Round of the Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Championship Tournament at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
 
The Fleet found themselves in a 3 to 0 hole following the doubles matches.  Alan Pearce (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) and Andre Andre (Setubal, Portugal) played well at #2 doubles, but UMO's Henric Falkenberg and Matthew Finnerty pulled away at the end to win the match 8 to 4.
 
Erskine's Eddie Gullino and Benny Uy (Inman, SC, Boiling Springs High School) were defeated in straight sets at #5 and #6 singles bringing the match to an end.  In tournament play, once the match is decided, play ceases in the other remaining matches.
 
With the loss, Erskine's season comes to an end at 4-14.
