Erskine defeats NGU; advances to semi-final round

Sumter, S.C. – Playing as the #4 seed, the Erskine Flying Fleet (9-10) defeated the #5 seed North Greenville University Crusaders (9-12) 5-0 in the Quarterfinal Round of the Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Championship Tournament this morning at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
 
The Flying Fleet breezed through the three doubles matches, winning all three 8-3, 8-1, and 8-2.
 
Erskine's Sarah McDonald (Round O, SC, Colleton Preparatory Academy) and Mikaela Bennett (Calgary, Canada, National Sports HIgh School) clinched the match by winning their singles matches in straight sets.  McDonald won 6-1, 6-1 at #1 singles while Bennett cruised at #4 singles 6-2, 6-0.  In tournament action, play ceases was a team has won the match with five victories.
 
Erskine advances to face the regular season champion and #1 seed Limestone College at 2:00 p.m. today in the semi-final round.
