Erskine outruns Barton in second half

Box Score Due West – The Erskine College Lady Fleet advanced to the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament with a 87-71 win over the Barton Bulldogs on Monday night at Belk Arena.
The Fleet (16-13) was led by the junior trio of Raygon Hendrix, Kristin Giles and Naomi Stuger, who scored 22, 19 and 18 points, respectively.
The Bulldogs (14-15) came out firing to start the game. Barton took a four-point lead after the first quarter and led by two points at halftime. The Fleet sank 40 percent of its shots from the field in the first half but only made 2 of 10 shots from the 3-point line. 
The second half was a different story, as Erskine scored 55 points and sank 60 percent of its field-goal attempts, including 5 of 7 of its 3-point shots and 14 of 16 of its free-throw attempts.
Sophomore Dareisha Sowell came off the bench to score a career high 17 points in the victory. Hendrix led the Fleet with six assists, and Stuger pulled down a team high seven rebounds.
Erskine will advance to face top-seeded Limestone, ranked No. 3 in the nation, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Gaffney.
