Wanner was named Head Men's And Women's Beach Volleyball Coach in June 2023. He previously joined the Fleet as full time volleyball assistant coach in the Fall of 2022, where he assisted the Men’s and Women’s indoor and beach teams.
He has been coaching volleyball for 8 years total, at both the high school and collegiate levels. For 3 years, Wanner was the assistant coach at Southern Wesleyan University, where he graduated with a degree in Sports Management and Recreation. In his time there as student assistant, SWU was NCCAA DI-Region Champions twice and had 3 NCCAA National Appearances. He has coached several All-NCCAA and All-Conference Carolinas Team players during his time at SWU.
As a high school club coach, Wanner has been a head coach of three 17’s teams and three 18’s teams at A-Town Volleyball Academy. In his time there, they finished inside the top 10 in region and have had 15 girls and 8 boys go on to play college volleyball.
